How to Use a Heated Vest With a USB Power Bank: Setup, Heat Levels and Battery Tips

A heated vest keeps your core warm without a bulky coat. The Halden Heated Vest has 9 heating zones across the collar, chest and back, three heat levels on one button, and runs from any standard USB power bank (not included). Here is how to get the most from it.

1. Choose a power bank

  • A standard USB-A output power bank works.
  • Higher capacity (mAh) generally means longer run time.
  • A slim shape sits more comfortably in the pocket.

2. Connect

Plug the vest's USB cable into the power bank and place it in the inner pocket. Zip the pocket closed.

3. Turn it on and choose a level

Hold the button to switch on, then press to cycle through the three levels. Start high to warm up, then drop to low or medium to stretch battery time.

4. Layer it

Heat works best close to the body: wear the vest over a thin base layer or shirt and under a shell or coat to keep the warmth in.

5. Battery tips

  • Charge the power bank fully the night before.
  • Cold reduces battery performance; keep a spare in an inside pocket on long days.
  • Use lower levels when you are moving.

6. Washing

Remove the power bank and cable before washing, and follow the care label.
